It is obtained by distilling the yellow flowers of a small tropical tree with pink, lilac and yellow flowers. This tree is also known as a "perfume tree" in the Far East. Women apply Yland-Ylang oil mixed with coconut oil to their hair in the southern seas of Asia. Once in Europe, this mixture was named Macasar oil and used in hair care. The beds are decorated with ylang ylang petals on wedding nights in Indonesia. Undoubtedly, this tradition comes from the aphrodisiac effect by which the perfume is famous. This flower was named as a “poor man’s jasmine” by Philippines and it had a monopoly of the world trade until the 1900s. The flower is still widely used in elegant perfumes. Ylang ylang regulates the flow of adrenaline, relaxes the nervous system and gives a feeling of joy.
