Carrier oils – the unsung heroes of aromatherapy – deliver deep hydration, aid essential oil absorption, and fortify skin health. Extracted via cold pressing from plant seeds, nuts, and fruits, our premium oils are 100% organic and meticulously chosen for their purity and therapeutic potency.
What Are Carrier Oils?
Carrier oils (also called base oils or fixed oils) are non-volatile, plant-derived oils extracted by cold pressing seeds, nuts, or kernels. Unlike essential oils, they don’t evaporate or have intense aromas, but are rich in nutrients and skin-loving compounds. They serve as vehicles to safely dilute essential oils and enhance skin application.
They’re called “carrier” oils because they carry essential oils into the skin without irritation. In addition to enabling safe application, carrier oils provide nourishment, lock in moisture, and help repair the skin barrier.
Essential Role in Aromatherapy
Carrier oils form the base for massage oils, lotions, serums, and skincare treatments. By slowing the absorption rate of essential oils, they allow sustained release and maximise benefits. Their own active compounds – omega fatty acids, vitamins A, D, and E, phytosterols – work synergistically with essential oils for therapeutic and cosmetic outcomes.
